Road Improvement Projects
Blue Lake Township voters approved a 1.5 mil millage dedicated to road improvement in the township. This was first collected in 2022 and will last through the 2026 winter taxes. Blue Lake Township has a volunteer roads committee that is made up of township residents, and 2 board members, who evaluate the township roads and developed a ten year strategy in cooperation with the Kalkaska County Road Commission for our road improvements. The plan has allowed the Township to balance current spending with the need to save for longer term / larger cost projects. Projects completed with this milage include;
- 2022
- Repaving of Blue Lake Road NE from Bell avenue to Starvation Lake Road at a cost of $183,996.
- Repaving Starvation Lake Road from Blue Lake Road to the west Township Line at a cost of $235,515.
- 2023
- Repaving of Blue Lake Road from CR612 to the culvert at the bottom of the hill before Twin Lake Road at a cost of $154,526
- 2024
- Repaving of all of Gedman at a cost of $171,093
- Repaving of Pflum road from the Township line to Sunset Trail at a cost of $61,111
