Accomplishments 2025

Property Taxes Reduced

The Township Board has reduced taxes for the 2026 Fiscal Year with no reduction in services.  This was done by a combination of using existing fund overages, and reallocating income.  For example, in the Fire Department, funds that the Township Receives annually for interest income and rent from the Antenna Tower on the Township property was allocated to the Fire Department Budget, and the Fire Department Milage Rate was reduced the same amount. This resulted in no change in income for the Department or cuts to services!

Computer System Upgrades and Email Migration to .gov

All of the Township computer systems were dated, with Microsoft Support ending in October of 2025, leaving the Township Vulnerable.  All at risk hardware was updated and systems were transferred.  Additionally, issues with software licensing were resolved at the same time. While this was being done, the domain name of bluelaketwpkalkaska.gov was obtained, and all email of elected and appointed officals now uses the same email extension of bluelaketwpkalkaska.gov

New and Improved Website Launched

If your reading this, you are already here!  In the Spring of 2025 our webhost informed the Township that they would no longer support the old website.  The Board obtained quotes and contracted for a new website, for a very cost effective amount and the new and improved site was Launched in October of 2025!

Treasurer implements enhanced Fraud Protection

The Treasurer has worked with our bank to implement an enhanced system of Fraud Protection for our accounts to protect the tax dollars (your money) we have saved.

The baseline Financial information is posted on the Finance page. This page will be updated monthly with financial statements and annually with budget information.

Speed Limit Enforceable

Previously, it has been stated that the Speed Limits in Blue Lake Township were not enforceable. Supervisor Fletemier found in files from 2000 and 2002 Traffic Control Orders passed at the time, which formally and correctly established the Speed limits. Sheriff Whiteford has approved these, the current signs have been validated as being in the correct location, allowing for enforcement as of February 26, 2025.
